New WVSMA Benefits

TAMPER-RESISTANT Rx PADS AND PAPER AT DISCOUNT PRICES

Beginning October 1, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require that your prescription pads meet a higher standard for tamper-resistance.  One security feature won’t be enough. Three CMS-approved security features must be integrated into your pads if you want your Medicaid patients’ prescriptions to be accepted at their local pharmacies.

Standard Register: WVSMA’s Preferred Supplier for Secure Rx

Recognizing that there is a lot of confusion among both physicians and pharmacists over what features meet CMS requirements, the West Virginia State Medical Association turned to Standard Register to ensure you have access to tamper-resistant prescription pads and paper that are CMS-compliant.

Standard Register is a recognized authority on prescription security, known for their success in helping states fight prescription fraud. They collaborated with the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) to create a national standard for tamper-resistant prescriptions that the CMS, state Medicaid directors, state legislators, healthcare providers and pharmacy groups have agreed on.

Meet CMS Requirements, Fight Fraud

Their ScripPlus® prescriptions pads and paper will put your regulatory concerns to rest.  Integrating eight security features, they exceed the new national standard for tamper-resistance and meet West Virginia’s own state requirements. So you can be confident your patients won’t experience the embarrassment, inconvenience or potential health risks of having their prescriptions denied.  At the same time, ScripPlus will help protect your good name by limiting your exposure to fraud.

Optimize Practice Efficiency

You will also appreciate the fact that the copy protection provided in ScripPlus will not obscure the instructions, DEA or NPI on your prescriptions when faxed to the pharmacy or scanned by a color copier.  As a security measure, a “VOID” will appear on the prescription to indicate that it has been copied.  However, Standard Register uses a hollow pantograph in which the letters of the “VOID” are outlined, instead of being produced as a solid image. So prescription information is easy to read and you aren’t bothered by unnecessary calls from the pharmacist.

Enjoy Special Member Pricing

The WVSMA has negotiated special pricing for our members.  As our preferred and recommended Rx supplier to West Virginia physicians, Standard Register will provide you with a discount of 36% to 44%, depending on your order quantity. That means your practice get the comprehensive fraud protection for less than most prescriptions with fewer security features.

Order your Way – Online or by Fax

To take advantage of this special member pricing, you can order your secure Rx pads or paper now by visiting Standard Register’s prescription Website at www.standardregister.com/securescrip/scripplus-for-your-state.asp?state=WV.
