Past President, Kathy Fortunato Will Be Missed
Kathy was devoted to her family. She was married to Dr. Michael Fortunato and is survived by their four children,
Joseph A. Koehl and his wife, Trezza, of Toledo, Andrea Fortunato and her fiancé, Jaime Keller, of Huntington, W. Va.,
Nicholas M. Fortunato and Christina Rose Fortunato of Wheeling.
Kathy Marie Fortunato, RN was a strong supporter of the physicians and their spouses throughout the state
of West Virginia. She was the Executive Director of the Ohio County Medical Society from 2000-2006.
Kathy was the Past President of the WVSMA Alliance, 1997-1998 and recognized as a Member of the Year.
She was Past President of the Ohio County Medical Society Alliance 1992-1993 and served as their Treasurer from 2004-2006.
On the national level, Kathy served on a number of committees of the American Medical Association Alliance, Inc..
These included Chairing the Communications/Public Relations Task Force, 2001-2002. She served on the Health
Promotions Committee from 1999-2001 and on the Nominating Committee in 2001. She was also active in the Southern
Medical Association Alliance and served as a Councilor and member of various committees.

- Wheeling Health Right Auxiliary member since 1992, Bd. Of Directors member since November, 2005.
She helped organize a basketball fundraiser and radio-thon.

- Regional Co-chair of the Bush-Cheney Campaign in 2004
- Member of the WV Republican Party Platform Committee
- Republican Women of the Northern Panhandle; Charter member, First President
- Marketing Director for First Financial Partners
- Talk Show Host and Radio Personality for WWVA, Wheeling
- YWCA of Wheeling Past President, Board of Directors Member
- Sustainer, Junior League of Wheeling
- Wheeling Symphony Board Member
- Member of the WVU Children’s Hospital Fundraising Committee
- Member of various committees at Wheeling Park High School
- Member of various committees at “Dance Dimensions”, a Wheeling dance school
- Was a student in the WVU Online Nursing Program
