The OCMSA proudly presented “A Continental Affair” on April 22, 2006 in Wheeling. The event involved Alliance members, family and friends who prepared ethnic meals, desserts, and specialty drinks for sale. The auditorium was transformed into various parts of the world. Entertainment showcased local talent. The Wheeling Park High School Jazz Quartet played sections with a Caribbean flavor. Also featured were the Irish Step Dancers of the Stifle Institute, lovely solos from music of the movie “Titanic” sung by family members and a dance from India performed in traditional dress by a member’s daughter. The finale brought a surprise “hoola” performed by physicians dressed in native grass skirts. This performance brought the house down and is recorded for posterity. A picture is shown below. Donated items were raffled. This event netted over $6,600 for Alliance projects. The ethnic diversity within the community itself lent to the success of the event. This event extended hospitality from the Alliance to the community at large.
